How does the Website appeal to it's target audience?
The website for the movie Central Intelligence has been set up in away that will be eye catching for it's target audience. On the website it has Photo's of the main characters, the trailer and the story of the movie.  The website includes an exclusive Movie trailer and a lot of animation photo's from the movie which catch phrases, as well as the different posters for the movie. On the website there's a strict colour scheme used which are: Yellow, Black and White. The colours contrast with each other, making the words stand out and be more eye-catching to the audience. I feel like the website definitely matches the genre of the film, everything on it is quite fast paced which is to do with action. There's short animation photo's from the movie which add humour to it. By these different elements being put on the website it already gives the audience a taste of what the film will be about without giving away too much of the storyline. This will allow the target audience to be captivated, making them want to pay to watch the movie when it comes out.

For this movie the use of social media being used as a marketing technique was very important. They used sites such as Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram to promote the movie. Fans expressed their views and interests about the trailer of the film. And Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart personally promoted the movie themselves via social media which made their fans feel more connected. They marketed the film by posting behind-the-scenes footage, clips/scenes from the film and doing a Twitter Q&A for fans as well as doing Interviews which posted up on YouTube for everyone to watch.  The two actors used the annual NRL (National Rugby League) match to promote their new movie across social media. This helped them gain more views as they had a huge platform to market their film.

Reviews of Central Intelligence:

1. "This movie is HILARIOUS! The Rock and Kevin Hart are fantastic together and have some of the funniest jokes I've heard all year. Watching them both on screen is the best part of this movie and it was extremely funny."

2. "Their acting styles – Hart’s jittery, syncopated, rapid-fire delivery versus Johnson’s laid-back physicality – are so starkly contrasting that it’s almost like watching two musicians simultaneously playing completely different pieces. And yet in this goofy comedy the casting harmonises perfectly, and a decent but patchy screenplay becomes one of the funnier films of the summer."

Costumes Research: for each character

Orphans – 2 Sisters

The Orphans are 2 abandon sisters that live in an Orphanage which was set on fire a long time ago. The Orphanage was re-built soon after though their souls still wonder around the place.

We want our Orphans to have burned marks and scares on different parts of their body in certain scenes to show that they are turning evil – making them look more gruesome.

I researched ways to make quick and easy burns to use on our Orphans and found:

The products needed are:

 v A packet of Gelatine

 v Mascara

 v Red lipstick

 v An eyeshadow colour pallet

 v Ice lolly sticks

 v Water

This will be good as the products used to make this burn can be found in any Supermarket e.g. Asda, Tesco, Wilkinsons etc.

Or If we want more detailed, horrifying, gruesome wounds then this website would be good to use in order to create them.

For the Scares on their body I found a great video that shows how to create quick and easy scares using equipment that again can be found in Supermarkets or Drug stores e.g. Boots and Superdrug.

The Rigid Collodion Scarring Liquid can be found on Amazon for £3.44 or Ebay for £5.99

Costumes:

An orphanage is a residential institution devoted to the care of orphans – children whose biological parents are deceased or otherwise unable or unwilling to care for them.

We want our Orphans to wear long, old fashion gowns/dresses in the colour white which will symbolise them being innocent, pure and sweet. Also, to have their hair in 2 braids with white bows in their hair – This will contrast with their personalities when they turn evil. We want their clothing to look quite dirty to show they have been worn out. – Having loose thread and tears in them once they turn evil.

Priest:

For our Supernatural Horror Trailer we have decided to add a Priest as in Horror films it is known to have some type of holy spiritual person such as a Priest.

We want our Priest to wear a typical, religious gown and to have a Rosary and a small Bible in his hands at all times

Priest Costumes can be found on Ebay for £10.99

Mother/Father:

For these characters, we want them to wear normal, contemporary clothing that will be worn by a couple in their early 30’s. For example, the mother would wear jeans and a blouse top and comfortable shoes and the father would wear Jeans, a shirt and smart shoes. We want them to wear clothing that is still in style and that will suit their personalities.

Film Poster Inspiration

The Film Posters I have chosen all have in common a silhouettes theme and I think that this theme will represent my Supernatural genre best.

                         Sketch for my Film Poster

For my Film Poster I took inspiration from the Looper film poster. I want the title of my film to be placed at the top of the poster so that it can be one of the first things that my audience notices, this means I will have to make it eye catching. Using a bright colour and bold font to make it stand out. I want to use a head short but in a silhouette form of the 2 girls (Only the outline of their heads) facing in the opposite direction, with the mother inside the silhouette. I want the mother to be in a postion that shows that she is upset about something, which will make the audience question what exactly could the film be about. This will attract my target audience, making them want to view the film.

Creation of Production Logo
Above, is a practice attempt of my group and I creating our Production Logo. We used Photoshop to construct our logo together. Our Production Logo is made up of each members first name initials and stands for "SKream ProDuctions." We decided to position the letters in the shape of a camera and have an outline around it to make the camera shape more clear.

Mother Dearest - Story Boards

Above are story boards of our Into and scenes 1-3. Drawn are images of what each scene will look like and beneath we have explained the different cinematography and mise en scene that we will included in these scenes for our film trailer.

Planning of my Film Poster

This is a tester of me learning how to construct the image for my front cover. I used Photoshop to create this. I wanted to be able to create a silhouette effect and add an imagine in the background.

                                                                    Research
The adverts for Black Swan were created by the British design studio LaBoca and are influenced by Polish and Czech posters of the 60s and 70s, as well as ballet advertisements of the early 20th century.

The stylised, circular body of the swan functions as a keyhole peeking into a theatre, where the dancer performs in front of a starry backdrop, the stage or lake under her feet casually suggested by incomplete horizontal lines.

Olly Moss is one of the biggest names in modern movie poster design. He is an English graphic artist, best known for his reimagining of movie posters. His work is regularly featured in Empire.
His posters vary in artistic style but his eye for detail and originality remains consistent in all his work.
This poster for 1981 cult horror film The Evil Dead is a fine example of his talent and is reminiscent of the work of Saul Bass.

Film Poster
This is the process of me creating my film poster for my film trailer. I wanted to create a silhouette effect and used Photoshop to help me do so.

These are screenshots of me creating drafts for my Film poster.

                    Draft of Film Poster
This is the first draft of my Film Poster.

Drafts for Magazine Front Cover

This is a draft for Magazine front cover. I included all the conventions of a film magazine such as the name of magazine "Reel Spotlight", using sell lines that are movie related, the name of model on my cover etc. By conforming to these conventions I was able to make my front cover more recognisable as a realistic Magazine front cover.

DRAFTS:

This is the process of me constructing my film magazine, trying out different layouts and seeing which worked best.

Final Magazine front cover

This is my Final Magazine front cover. I decided that I wanted my magazine to be based on my actor. I had drawn ideas from man different magazines that I researched such as 'Studio', 'Film' & 'Empire'. I took inspiration from all these magazines and created my own, using the different conventions that each used in order to make my magazine look more realistic.

Final Film Poster

This is the final product of my Film Poster. I decided to add a background layer to my image of the 2 little girls, using an image of an old abandon orphanage house. This made my poster conform more to my chosen genre. I changed the layout slightly from my previous drafts to something that I felt was a bit more appealing for my audience and made certain things more noticeable than others by using different fonts/size and colours to catch my audiences eye.

Lev Kuleshov - Kuleshov effect

This is the final product of my Film Poster. I decided to add a background layer to my image of the 2 little girls, using an image of an old abandon orphanage house. This made my poster conform more to my chosen genre. I changed the layout slightly from my previous drafts to something that I felt was a bit more appealing for my audience and made certain things more noticeable than others by using different fonts/size and colours to catch my audiences eye.

Lev Kuleshov, a Soviet filmmaker, was among the first to dissect the effects of juxtaposition. The Kuleshov effect is a film editing (montage) effect, that he demonstrated in the 1910s and 1920s. It is a mental phenomenon by which viewers take more meaning from the interaction of two sequential shots than from a single shot in isolation.

In the 20th century, cinema was a new art form, consisting of many techniques that hadn’t been fully developed. The elements of editing were among them. Filmmakers knew that you could cut and connect the film strip. However people of this time period didn’t comprehend the artistic purposes of doing so.

Through his experiments and research, Kuleshov discovered that depending on how shots are assembled the audience will attach a specific meaning or emotion to it.

In his experiment, Kuleshov cut the shot of an actor with shots of three different subjects:
A girl in a coffin, a hot plate of soup, and a pretty woman lying in a couch. The footage of the actor was the same expressionless gaze. Yet the audience raved his performance, saying first he looked sad, then hungry, then lustful.

In a 1964 interview for the show Telescope, Alfred Hitchcock called this technique “pure cinematics – the assembly of film. Sir Hitchcock says that if a close-up shot of a man smiling is cut with a shot of a woman playing with a baby, the man is portrayed as 'kindly' and 'sympathetic' and if the same shot of the smiling man is cut with a girl in a bikini, the man is portrayed as 'dirty.'

These examples illustrate the power of editors as storytellers. The data gathered with the Kuleshove Experiment were heavily used by Russian filmmakers. This soon became an ordinary effect that affected how filmmakers shoot and edit their movies.

These are images of different Magazine front Covers from a variety of genres. I have taken elements from each of these and added them to my own magazine cover. I have decided that I want my magazine to be based on the actor from my trailer rather than being linked to my genre.

These 3 front covers were the main magazines I used for inspiration when creating my own Magazine cover.

Reaction Video - To Trailer
This is a short reaction video of our unfinished Trailer. We wanted to make sure that the sound we used was effective and that it matched the action taking place in our trailer.

Vlogs of different Filming Days

Music and sound effects used

Cinematic low running bass (epic movie effet.mp3)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljV66SeMW6k
This piece of music was sued as a backing track/underscore in the trailer. It was effective as it matched the action taking place. The music started of at a steady pace which matched the scenes that were being shown, then as the music progressed the scenes were more fast paced and in sync with the music. This too helped to build up the tension.

Creepy Child Laughing__| FX).mp3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMvux5QkxOA
This sound effect of children laughing was used at the beginning of our trailer in the scene with the 2 little girls. This is the first time the audience is introduced to the little girls. It also helped to set the mood and made them seem innocent, making the audience think about what could happen next as it was quite unearthly like.

Ring Around the Rosie (lyr_ace.mp3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVpPlWlHMrA
We used this piece of music towards the beginning part of our trailer, which create quite a sinister feel to the trailer. It was effective as it linked to the little girls, they are seen as innocent at the beginning but with the remix of this nursery rhyme symbolised that their was something "off putting" about the girls.

Heart Beat Sound Effect
This sound effect was used at the ending of our trailer to build up the tension and create a climax for the ending scare of the trailer. It helped to keep the audience on their toes.
